SCF-c-Kit Signaling Axis: A Cancer Stemness Regulator
c-Kit (CD117), a type III receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK), is involved in intracellular signaling. c-Kit and its ligand stem cell factor (SCF) are essential for embryonic development and the development and progression of human cancers. Aberrant signaling of SCF/c-Kit is a critical promotor of cancer stemness in SCLC, GIST, leukemia, glioblastoma, and mastocytosis. The function of c-Kit leads to inhibition of c-Kit kinase activity can be used as a target for cancer therapy. The significance of c-Kit as a therapeutic target is highlighted by the over 40 FDA-registered clinical trials investigating immunotherapies targeting c-Kit in cancer treatment.
As a global leader in the recombinant technology, Sino Biological provides a diverse array of recombinant proteins, antibodies, and ELISA kits to facilitate research and development of cancer treatments that focus on c-Kit and other RTKs (EGFR, VEGFR, PDGFR, c-Met, TrkB, FGFR, and more).
