Organs-on-Chips: Furthering Our Understanding of Disease

Limitations of planar, static cell culture systems and the desire to reduce reliance on animal models are driving the development of organs-on-chips (OOCs). These models can more closely recapitulate aspects of human physiology and organ function, and are proving valuable tools for disease modeling and drug discovery.
