Millions of Long-Term Smokers Have Lung Diseases That Defy Diagnosis
A study led by University of California San Francisco researchers revealed that many Americans with tobacco-related lung symptoms do not fit existing tobacco-related disease criteria. Despite significant tobacco exposure, half of the participants had respiratory symptoms, but presented normal chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder test results.
Dr. Prescott Woodruff, pulmonologist and critical care specialist and principal investigator of the study, joined Technology Networks for an exclusive video interview to discuss the results of the study.
